The newest trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero has fans speculating that director Takashi Yamazaki is hiding a kaiju-sized surprise.
As the follow-up to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One, the upcoming film holds the historic distinction of being the first Japanese production shot natively for IMAX. However, beyond the scale of the visual presentation, fans are zooming in on subtle clues pointing toward the arrival of an iconic arch-nemesis: King Ghidorah.
Check out the film’s latest trailer below.
Why fans think King Ghidorah could appear in Godzilla Minus Zero
A lot of things in the trailer seemingly point towards the presence of a second kaiju in the film. Officially, there has been no confirmation that Godzilla Minus Zero is going to include an additional monster. But there are several crumbs of information that are seemingly pointing towards Ghidorah being an important part of the story.
In the last line of the trailer, Kanji Murakami, played by Min Tanaka, ominously states, “Don’t worry, this isn’t Godzilla we are talking about.” The line is immediately followed by a shot of Godzilla collapsing from a severe height before smashing to the title card.

Several shots in the trailer also showed pilots navigating blue waves in the sky, which have been linked to the gravity-based powers that King Ghidorah has displayed in previous appearances. Furthermore, a shot where the planes are seen flying away from an explosion also has blue waves that fans have attributed to Ghidorah.
Beyond what the trailer has shown, there is also the fact that Ghidorah has been dubbed Monster Zero in many of its appearances, which fans have seemingly tied to the Minus Zero title of the film.
However, this seems to be in contradiction to what Takashi Yamazaki said regarding escalating the stakes of the film. He had stated that he did not want to escalate the threat in the film but had the same terror come back to haunt the characters who thought they were beyond it. Adding another Kaiju will definitely make it more difficult for characters to deal with either threat, unless, of course, they let them fight.
Godzilla Minus Zero arrives in theaters and IMAX on November 6, 2026.
