Broadway star and new Marvel actress Maya Boyd is getting plenty of attention on social media, and X-Men fans keep making the same comparison. The 23-year-old actress, known for playing Juliet in & Juliet, recently shared a five-photo carousel on Instagram.
Boyd posed in an elegant beige-yellow dress, and fans quickly filled the comments with references to her upcoming role as Storm. Though most of the fans in the comment section of the social media post were praising her look, there was a segment of Marvel fans who couldn’t get over her character, “Storm.”
Multiple fans echoed the same sentiment, referring to her exclusively as Storm and leaving trails of thunderstorm and lightning bolt emojis.

Marvel Studios recently confirmed Boyd as Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm, during its presentation at D23. Since the announcement, the actress has already started getting familiar with the character and has shared photos of herself reading X-Men comics.
Her latest post once again had fans thinking about the weather-controlling mutant, with some leaving lightning bolt emojis.
Marvel’s X-Men movie has already assembled a growing cast of mutant heroes
In the upcoming X-Men movie, Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey, while Kit Connor stars as Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops. Christopher Abbott plays Charles Xavier, or Professor X, who leads the mutant team.
The team also includes Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Boyd as Ororo Munroe/Storm. Asa Germann joins them as Warren Worthington III/Angel. Adam Driver plays the movie’s main villain, Nathaniel Essex/Mister Sinister. Samara Weaving also stars as Emma Frost.
Boyd is part of the growing cast for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie. The project has been in development for years, and Marvel has now started revealing the actors who will bring its new version of the mutants to the MCU.
The untitled X-Men movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters in May 2028.
