Spider Man: Brand New Day: Tom Holland Officially Beats Highest Grossing Marvel Actor at the Box Office
Spread the love

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day grossing over $2.415 billion at the box office (via The Numbers, as of September 13, 2026), Tom Holland has officially become the highest-grossing actor of all time. The Spider-Man star has had a momentous year with both his July releases, The Odyssey and BND, grossing the billion-dollar mark at the box office.

While Holland was in sixth place as early as August, he has now officially surpassed actress Zoe Saldaña as the highest-grossing actor of all time. Holland is also rumored to appear in more MCU projects, including Avengers: Doomsday, which might again put him leagues ahead of his peers.

Tom Holland Surpassed Zoe Saldaña and Scarlett Johansson at the Box Office

2026 has been a phenomenal year for Tom Holland. The star began with The Odyssey, which grossed over $1.644 billion at the box office and had significant cultural impact (via Box Office Mojo, as of September 13, 2026). Only a week later, Holland returned to his MCU roots with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which broke several records and is unstoppable at the box office.

Holland has become part of some of the highest-grossing films of all time, just by being Spider-Man. His previous Spider-Man films have all grossed upwards of $800 million (with the last two crossing $1 billion), and he was part of both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Collectively, his films have grossed $15.5 billion (via Variety).

This puts Holland above other actors like Zoe Saldaña and Scarlett Johansson, who also had Endgame’s backing while entering the list. Saldaña was the highest-grossing actor of all time before Holland took over. She was part of multiple franchises such as the Avatar films and the MCU. Her films collected over $15.4 billion.

Holland has also beaten several other actors on the list, including his on-screen mentor, Robert Downey Jr. Most of the others, like Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth, are on the list because of Endgame and Infinity War, except Tom Cruise, whose Top Gun: Maverick put him in 7th place. Holland also joins Tom Cruise on another list with Brand New Day.

What Is Next for Holland After Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Tom Holland has been on a generational run since Spider-Man: No Way Home. After a few misses, such as Uncharted, Chaos Walking, and Cherry, Holland came back stronger than ever with The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, both of which are among the highest-grossing movies of the year and have put him above any other actor in history.

That being said, Holland is busy for the next few years. His IMDb page lists three projects in various stages of production and development. An Untitled Fred Astaire biopic is in the works with Holland set to star. He is also set to be a producer and star of the John Grisham adaptation, The Partner. American Speed is another film in the pipeline.

As for his MCU future, the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is sure to get Sony kickstarted on the fifth solo film, though there is no actual confirmation. Deadline reported that director Destin Daniel Cretton might be returning for the fifth film as he develops a potential Hawaii Five-0 adaptation.

The next MCU project up for release is Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to have a huge star cast. While he is not confirmed, Tom Holland might just drop by in the post-credits scene before being back in full capacity in next year’s Secret Wars. However, these are all rumors at this point.
