Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has finally been revealed! Square Enix finally gave us the first look at the long-awaited third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy during Summer Game Fest 2026. It’s been a long time since Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s release in 2020 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024. And now, we finally have a name, a trailer, and a release window for the end of this journey.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will launch in Spring 2027 and, for the first time in the trilogy’s history, will arrive simultaneously across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The new trailer shows us returning heroes, new playable characters, gameplay features, and several iconic locations from the original RPG. Here’s everything we know!

In Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, we’ll be able to explore the world with the Highwind airship as a fully controllable vehicle. Players will be able to fly across the game’s world map and even jump off from the airship battle royale style to parachute directly into explorable regions below.
The trailer also showed several notable destinations, including the nation of Wutai, the outskirts of Midgar, and the Mideel Archipelago, and the studio says that Revelation will have the biggest open world yet in the series. So we can definitely expect some of the most memorable sections from the latter half of the original Final Fantasy VII story.
The trailer also teased encounters with the legendary Weapons, colossal creatures tied to the Planet itself. The trailer showed one of these massive beings emerging from the ocean, and we even got an example of how these large-scale battles could be major highlights of the final installment.
In addition, players will be able to equip new armor sets that not only affect character stats but also alter their appearance, adding newer ways to customize characters throughout the adventure.
Vincent And Cid Become Playable As The Trilogy Reaches Its Finale

Another major reveal was the confirmation that Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will finally become fully playable party members. While both characters appeared in Rebirth, they were not available as controllable characters.
The Summer Game Fest presentation showcased Vincent’s rifle-based combat style and his ability to transform into his monster form during battle. We also saw gameplay footage for Cid, using his signature spear and fighting alongside the rest of the party in the final version of the trilogy’s combat system.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi described Revelation as the trilogy’s “epic conclusion,” with the story focusing on the cast’s determination as they prepare for the final fight ahead. The trailer gives us a look at Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid as the story reaches its climax. Suspiciously, we barely had any hints of Aerith and her role in the climax.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the final chapter of Square Enix’s ambitious remake of one of gaming’s most celebrated RPGs, and we finally have a confirmed release window for Spring 2027. After nearly a decade of development spanning three games, we’ve finally reached the end.
What are your expectations for this grand finale? Let us know in the comments!
