Doom: The Dark Ages | Revelations Brings Back The Classic Doom Experience in July
Spread the love

When Doom: The Dark Ages first came out in May 2025, players were instantly left hungry for more, and that wait is finally over. Doom The Dark Ages | Revelations has officially been announced at the Xbox Games Showcase, and it arrives in July 2026. The best part? It promises to give an insight into a part of the Slayer’s past that has gone unexplored until now.

At the time of this writing, the DLC remains just a month away, meaning fans don’t have to wait much longer before they get their hands on the expanded content that combs through The Slayer’s past as he finds himself trapped within a torturous inner realm and now tries to fight his way out.

What to Expect With Doom: The Dark Ages | Revelations

The upcoming expansion doesn’t ease the Slayer back into the fight; instead, as described in the description of the DLC, it drops him into a ‘prison of his own mind.’ The expansion’s narrative opens with the Slayer surprisingly weakened, something not seen much in the franchise.

To escape this purgatory, our protagonist is forced to face the psychological and spiritual weight of his own long history. Thankfully, he is aided by a new ally, a character not fully revealed yet, but still significant enough to help him ascend from his inner darkness and confront anything that comes between him and his freedom.

The most exciting addition is seemingly a level in the game that is inspired directly out of the original Doom title, bringing back the centre-placed gun fov and old graphics and monsters. Moreover, there’s also the Chain Spear, an all-new weapon that delivers a uniquely satisfying combat loop by, according to the official sources, rewarding ‘mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility.’

Alongside the paid expansion, id Software is releasing the Ripatorium 3.0 update for free to all Doom: The Dark Ages players. This update overhauls the arena challenge mode with a suite of quality-of-life improvements, giving players more control over how they set up and share their runs through better customization tools, an upgraded pass code system, and the option to save and reload their own configurations.

Players who own Revelations are destined to get even more out of the Ripatorium, as upon completing the expansion’s story, three additional maps, new demons, and fully upgraded new weapons unlock within the mode.

As for pricing and access, players who own the Premium Edition or the Collector’s Bundle of Doom: The Dark Ages will receive Revelations at no additional cost at launch. Don’t have these editions? Base game players can purchase the expansion as a standalone add-on for USD $19.99, or upgrade to the Premium Edition for USD $34.99.
