But another headline you should probably be paying attention to right now is how, despite the leaks showing how far along the game has come, the studio has likely made nearly $429 million from just the game’s pre-orders that started on June 25. The official numbers are yet to be released, but if these estimates are anywhere near the truth, then Rockstar Games might just recover all of the game’s budget by year-end.

What’s about to be said should be taken with a grain of salt. Estimates by Sensor Tower have released a few figures that might feel too good to be true at first, but start making more sense when you realise it is the most anticipated piece of entertainment anyone and everyone has been waiting for since the last decade.
According to reports, GTA 6 has earned Rockstar Games $429 million with just its pre-sale orders, selling 4.38 million copies of the game so far. There’s also more to where this came from, including that 77% of the sales were made on PlayStation, while 33% were made on Xbox, the only other platform the studio has made the game available on.

Going by the pseudonym Cyberleek, a hacker group has been releasing different clips of the game for everyone to see online, with the most viral one covering the game’s driving mechanics as Jason is seen driving a brown, rusted pickup before colliding with another vehicle, after which Jason gets into a brawl with the other vehicle’s driver.
This was one of the first videos to go online, with more alleged clips surfacing every now and then ever since. The group has also threatened to release more leaks that uncover more information about the game if Rockstar Games refuses to meet their demands.
