Four new Spider-Man TV shows are in development despite Spider-Noir‘s shocking cancellation. The Prime Video series premiered earlier this year, with Nicolas Cage starring in the titular role.
Prime Video may have pulled the plug on Spider-Noir, but its partnership with Sony is extending with four brand new TV projects. According to the latest report from The Ankler, four “Spider-Man Universe” scripts are currently under consideration.
In fact, several notable writers have already been attached to the scripts. They include Kelvin Yu (American Born Chinese), Emmy-nominated writer Alison Tatlock (Better Call Saul, Pluribus), co-creators of For All Mankind Ben Nedivi & Matt Wolpert, and Megan McDonnell (WandaVision).
Notably, the latest report also states that not all four TV shows will receive the green light. However, one or two scripts are expected to be picked.
The story behind Spider-Noir’s abrupt end
Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir has received strong reviews from critics and viewers ever since its debut on Prime Video in May 2026. Currently, it holds a spectacular 92% Tomatometer score and a 90% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show also earned 11 Emmy nominations, more than any other Prime Video TV series this year. Within days after its cancellation, it won five crucial awards, including Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Title Design, Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming, Outstanding Sound Editing, and Outstanding Special Visual Effects.
But it seems the accolades were not enough for Prime Video to greenlight another Spider-Noir season. While the TV show opened at the second spot on Nielsen’s U.S. Top 10 chart for original series and gained 851 million viewing minutes in the first week, the numbers eventually declined.
Spider-Noir dropped out of Prime Video’s daily Top 10 rankings more quickly than any other recent title, such as Reacher and Ride or Die.
Amazon determined that the series didn’t hold viewers’ attention for long. Additionally, the first season of the show was made on a massive budget, potentially prompting the makers not to renew it.
