Across its long life, the animated comedy has always attracted big names willing to lend their voices to small, memorable roles. Jennifer Aniston brought some biker attitude to Arlen in the seventh-season episode, Queasy Rider. Hank and Peggy take up motorcycle riding as part of their couples counseling, and out on the road they meet Pepperoni Sue and her husband Lumpy.
The leather-clad pair are heading to Sturgis for a marriage re-commitment ceremony, and they invite the Hills along for the ride. Sue takes a shine to Hank, which leaves him deeply uncomfortable. Aniston plays against her wholesome FRIENDS image here. Still, the role is fairly light on standout moments, which is why she lands at the bottom of this list.

Brendan Fraser voiced Arlen High’s star player in Peggy Makes the Big Leagues. David Kalaiki-Ali’i, nicknamed ‘The Flyin’ Hawaiian,’ is a gifted athlete who coasts through school because his teachers keep handing him easy grades to keep him on the field. When Peggy subs for his class and refuses to give him a free pass, the No Pass No Play rule benches him, and the whole town turns against her.
Fraser gives David a laid-back charm that makes the character likable even when he’s slacking off. The episode also finds real heart once David agrees to let Peggy tutor him. It’s a solid cameo, just not one of the show’s flashiest. Moreover, Fraser returned for another cameo, playing Jimmy Bearden in the Season 9 episode Gone With the Windstorm.

Chris Rock lit up one of the early episodes of the show, Traffic Jam, as Roger “Booda” Sack, a stand-up comedian stuck teaching defensive driving. Booda would rather crack jokes than explain road rules, and his boundary-pushing humor rubs Hank the wrong way. Bobby, however, is fascinated, and Booda ends up mentoring the boy in comedy, encouraging him to draw on his own background for material.
Rock brings his signature energy to the role, and hearing his rapid-fire delivery inside Arlen’s wholesome world is a treat. The character proved popular enough to return in later episodes, though voiced by Phil LaMarr. Rock’s original take remains the definitive version, earning him a spot here.

Ben Stiller voiced Rich, a new Strickland Propane employee, in That’s What She Said. Rich is instantly popular with the staff thanks to his constant stream of crude one-liners, but Hank finds the humor tasteless and grows increasingly bothered by it.
Not wanting to file a harassment complaint, Hank struggles to figure out how to handle the situation until he realizes the other workers are just as tired of the jokes as he is. Stiller clearly has fun playing a guy whose comedy misses the mark on purpose. It’s a smaller, subtler role than some of the bigger cameos, and it doesn’t quite crack the upper half.

Kathy Bates guest starred in Lupe’s Revenge, an episode mostly about Peggy accidentally bringing a child back from Mexico. In the side story, Hank gets pulled over by Officer Jane Cooper, and his polite manner accidentally charms her. Cooper quickly develops an aggressive crush, slipping Hank her phone number, frisking him without cause, and threatening his friends when they get in the way.
Bates leans into Cooper’s obsessive streak, and there are shades of her famous Misery role in how far the officer is willing to go. Watching a mortified Hank try to escape her advances is genuinely funny. It’s a memorable turn that pushes her into the top six.

John Goodman lent his voice to Tommy in the eleventh-season episode SerPUNt. After Bobby’s pet python escapes down the toilet and into Arlen’s sewer system, the Hills call in County Animal Control. Tommy and his partner Rollo are supposed to catch the snake, but the pair are more interested in dragging out the job to squeeze extra money from the city than actually solving the problem.
There’s a great visual gag here. Goodman voices a blond, bearded man while his partner is drawn to look like the Roseanne star himself. His laid-back con-artist delivery makes Tommy quietly hilarious. It’s an understated cameo from a comedy legend, and it earns a mid-list ranking.

Alan Rickman was perfectly cast as King Philip in Joust Like a Woman. Philip runs the local Renaissance Faire and insists everyone stay in character as though it’s really 1590. Hank shows up to sell him propane for a fire-breathing dragon, while Peggy takes a job as a cleaning wench, only to discover Philip treats his female workers terribly and pays them a fraction of what the men earn.
Peggy eventually leads a full-on rebellion against him. Rickman’s sneering voice, famous from the Harry Potter movies, makes Philip a wonderfully hateable villain. That unmistakable delivery elevates every scene he’s in. It’s one of the show’s most quotable cameos, which is why it ranks so high.

Brad Pitt voiced Patch Boomhauer, the smooth-talking brother of the famously mumbling Boomhauer. Patch shows up and announces he’s marrying Katherine, the woman Boomhauer has long considered the love of his life. The brothers have a tense history, and Boomhauer has to decide whether to speak up or let Patch walk away with her.
What makes this cameo special is hearing Pitt draw on Mike Judge’s signature fast-talking and barely intelligible drawl to play a convincing sibling. It’s a fun bit of vocal mimicry from one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, paired with a surprisingly emotional storyline for Boomhauer. With the episode named after his character, he clearly earns this top 3 spot.

Meryl Streep, one of the most decorated actors alive, took a voice role as Aunt Esme Dauterive in A Beer Can Named Desire. In the episode, Bill visits his eccentric Cajun relatives at their Louisiana plantation. Esme is the elegant matriarch of the family, and her three widowed relatives all set their sights on marrying Bill.
Streep gives Esme an old-world grace, and Peggy is so taken with her way of speaking that she compares it to Shakespeare. The very idea of an actor of Streep’s caliber appearing on the show is remarkable. That prestige, plus a lovely performance, earns her this second rank.

When the Hills unknowingly take in Tammi, a Strickland Propane employee who turns out to be a prostitute, her former pimp Alabaster arrives believing Hank has stolen one of his workers. He demands Tammi back and even mistakes Peggy for one of his potential hires, leading to a tense showdown with Hank.
Snoop is a perfect fit for the smooth, over-the-top Alabaster, and his effortless cool makes every line land. It’s the most iconic guest role in the show’s history, so memorable that fans still quote it decades later. And that’s exactly why Alabaster Jones claims the number one spot.
