A Gen V and Scream 7 star has been cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s upcoming X-Men movie. After auditioning for another major role in the X-Men reboot, he has instead been cast as one of the founding members of the mutant team.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Asa Germann is in talks to play Warren Worthington III, aka Angel. Angel was introduced in the first issue of X-Men in 1963 and is portrayed with feathered wings and a core ability of flight.
Prior to this role, the 28-year-old auditioned for Cyclops. While this role was given to Kit Connor, the Gen V actor left the studio impressed, securing him the role of Warren.
That said, Germann’s casting has not been officially announced by Marvel, as the studio has declined to comment. If the deal is made official, this would mark Germann’s second superhero role. The actor was previously known for playing Sam Riordan in the superhero series Gen V and The Boys.
Who else has been cast in Marvel’s new X-Men movie?
Among all the X-Men cast members, Sadie Sink’s role as Jean Grey was revealed first. The Stranger Things star played the mutant in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Not long after, Connor was officially cast as Cyclops.
On August 14, 2026, at D23, more official cast members of the X-Men reboot movie were announced. Christopher Abbott was revealed as Professor X. Samara Weaving and Inde Navarrette were officially cast as Emma Frost and Rogue, respectively. Storm will be portrayed by Maya Boyd. Lastly, Adam Driver was officially cast as the villain Mr. Sinister.
The casting details of the other core members of the X-Men team have still not been announced. Among these are Hank McCoy (Beast), Bobby Drake (Iceman), Wolverine, Magneto, Kitty Pryde, and Gambit.
Jake Schreier, known for Thunderbolts*, is set to direct the reboot. X-Men reboot is slated to release in theaters on May 5, 2028.
