Who is dr arkham inside brad pitts rumored the batman 2 villain role
Spread the love

After reports of Scarlett Johansson‘s potential casting in the sequel, Brad Pitt has now been rumored to star opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman 2 (via World of Reel). While nothing is concrete yet, the rumors suggest he’s being considered for the role of Dr. Arkham, who is being eyed as the main antagonist in the sequel. This does align with Matt Reeves‘ previous comments, who previously teased that the sequel’s villain has “never really been done in a movie before”.

Moreover, Pitt’s commitment to Edward Berger’s The Riders, which begins shooting in January, is expected to conclude before The Batman sequel commences production in May 2026. So if he indeed gets cast in the movie, the F1 star’s schedule does line up for the filming window.

Who is Dr. Arkham in Batman Myth: Powers and Abilities, Explained

Although both Hugo Strange and Dr. Amadeus Arkham share some surface-level similarities, as they both are psychiatrists at Arkham who lack superpowers, beyond that, the two are very different.

Unlike Hugo, Arkham isn’t inherently evil, as this character can be summed up as more of a tragic figure. Being the founding father of Arkham Asylum, he believed that even the worst of Gotham needed treatment. But as it goes, Gotham’s history of the criminally insane drove him to insanity, and his obsession to purify them eventually led to his descent into villainy.

His descent into madness symbolises the entire state of the Arkham Asylum, and certain issues suggest that mental instability runs deep within the Arkham bloodline.

Brad Pitt’s Dr. Arkham is the Perfect Fit for Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2

From a tonal perspective, Dr. Arkham seems like a great fit for a noir-driven Batman movie. But what further strengthens the prospect of Arkham’s big-screen DC debut is one revelation in the first movie.

In The Batman, it was revealed that Martha Arkham had a history of mental illness, a secret that Thomas Wayne attempted to cover up. And considering some stories imply that the entire Arkham bloodline is riddled with symptoms of mental illness, this could contribute to a compelling dynamic between Bruce and Arkham.

The Batman 2’s Casting Continues to Grow More Impressive

With Pitt rumored to be on board for the sequel, the ensemble cast for The Batman 2 is looking more impressive than ever. As of writing, the potential cast for the sequel could involve Pitt, Scarlett Johansson, alongside returning figures Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Barry Keoghan, and Andy Serkis.

Considering Batman Begins‘ sequel, The Dark Knight, boasted one of the most celebrated ensembles in the realm of CBMS, if all the rumors hold true, this sequel could give TDK a run for its money.

With the production for the highly anticipated follow-up set to start next year, hopefully, some definitive news will come our way in the near future.
