Released alongside the July 16 Hot Bat Summer update in Chapter 7 Season 3, the Golden Apple takes one of Fortnite‘s most easily recognizable consumables and turns it into an Exotic item that is worth keeping an eye out for.
Unlike a regular apple, this golden version restores 50 Health and grants Low Gravity for nine seconds, letting you cover ground more quickly or make an emergency escape. Better yet, you can eat it even when your Health is already full, making it a surprisingly handy mobility tool instead of something you save only for healing.

Unlike most Exotic items, you won’t find the Golden Apple inside a chest, defeat an NPC to earn it, or buy it with Gold Bars. As of Chapter 7 Season 3 (Update v41.20), it is exclusive to Produce Boxes, the brown crates with green lids that normally drop foraged food items.

That also means finding one comes down to a bit of luck. The Golden Apple appears to have a fairly low drop rate, so don’t be surprised if your first few Produce Boxes only contain the regular apples, bananas, coconuts, or other food items instead.
The good news is that Produce Boxes are easy enough to spot once you know what you’re looking for. So, when you do come across one in a Battle Royale or Zero Build match, it’s worth taking a second to search it. Even if you don’t find a Golden Apple right away, checking multiple Produce Boxes throughout the match increases your chances of eventually adding one to your inventory.

Since the Golden Apple only drops from Produce Boxes, the trick isn’t chasing one or two specific locations on the map. Instead, you want to land somewhere packed with food-related buildings so you can search several boxes in quick succession before rotating.
Some of the best places to look include:
Gas stations and service stops: Check back rooms, storage areas, and refrigerators, where Produce Boxes frequently spawn.
Restaurants and kitchens: Diners, cafés, grocery stores, and other food-centric buildings often contain multiple Produce Boxes hidden behind counters, inside pantries, or in walk-in freezers.
Residential areas: Houses with full kitchens regularly have one or two Produce Boxes stashed under counters or into pantry spaces.
Supermarkets and grocers: Markets will typically be your best bet, as they typically have the highest concentration of Produce Boxes in one building.
If you’re specifically looking for the Golden Apple in your next Fortnite match, focus on routes that allow you to open several Produce Boxes in a row, instead of relying on standard chests.
