Since Rockstar formally announced that GTA 6 is on its way, there has been a growing list of demands and requests containing features that many within GTA Online‘s community would like to see implemented in the game.

However, the most significant point that fans keep asking for clarification on is what the future holds for GTA 5‘s online counterpart. It’s been over a decade now since the game mode shipped with it, and many dedicated fans have spent a ton of their real income on the game, too.
Most of the worry stems from that, as people wonder whether all their investments will go down the drain once GTA 6 finally emerges. One fan believes that Online, with all its history and player data, will simply be ported over to the next game.

Despite all that we’ve discussed, what the future holds for GTA Online continues to remain shrouded in mystery. Given how Rockstar has been mistreating Online recently, all isn’t looking too well, either.

It’s a complicated situation, too. If Rockstar does carry the player data over to the next game, then the new players will be left at a severe disadvantage. On the other hand, there will undoubtedly be a storm of controversy if Rockstar asks older players to start over from scratch completely.
The way people see it, Rockstar has only a few paths. They can either build a separate audience with the following title and slowly phase out support for the older game, completely incorporate the current online into the new one, or give players some hefty rewards instead of carrying data over.
