John Travolta Naturally Resonated With Pulp Fiction’s Story

Despite his more underrated roles, like playing Howard Saint in 2004’s The Punisher, he still needs to be looked upon by the audience; everyone almost immediately remembers him as Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction. And it almost seemed like fate when he decided to take the role after rejecting another project in its stead.
In an interview panel with his co-stars from the film at the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival 2024, Travolta explained how he and Tarantino were with each other for hours talking about the upcoming projects. Here, the filmmaker presented him with this film and a Vampire movie, titled From Dusk Till Dawn, from which he had to choose his next project.
However, after learning about both films and their narratives, he felt a unique connection and resonance with what Pulp Fiction had at its core, which led him to make his choice. He said:
One was the vampire movie From Dusk Till Dawn and the other one was Pulp Fiction. I responded to Pulp Fiction but I didn’t respond to From Dusk Till Dawn, and he noticed that. So at the end of the meeting he said, ‘I’m curious. You seem to like the Pulp Fiction one, but you did not respond as much to the other.’ I said, ‘Well, it’s simple, Quentin. I’m just not a vampire guy’.
And that decision proved to be the best one that he made when we learn that this with Tarantino would not just make him an icon, but also revive his career from a downward spiral, giving it a new life.
How Memes Like Fortnite’s Add to a Film’s Immortality
Memes in the modern era have become their own language on the internet, and through them, users communicate with each other about whatever they are talking about.
