Taylor Swift’s long-anticipated Eras Tour documentary, Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, is finally here, and Tay didn’t shy away from revealing the real reason she created the Eras Tour. She had two main reasons: first, to reclaim her work after losing her masters, and second, the pandemic.
The first two episodes of the six-episode docuseries are released on December 12, 2025, on Disney+. It shows that the tour was built to honor every album, every era, and every version of herself. It’s the closest she has come to putting her entire career, from Fearless to Folklore to The Tortured Poets Department, in one place.
Episodes 1 and 2 gave fans a detailed look at the tour’s origins, Tay’s emotional journey, unreleased rehearsal footage, surprise guests, and the behind-the-scenes work that shaped the record-breaking stadium run.
The remaining episodes will be released on December 19 and December 26, alongside the extended concert film Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show (releasing December 12). Here’s a quick recap and ending of Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, Episodes 1 and 2.
Taylor Swift: The End of an Era Episode 1: The Loss in Vienna and Southport
The docuseries begins with Swift giving a pep talk to her dancers and band backstage before the final show. She reminds them that they performed for more than 10 million people throughout the 149-date tour. The Eras Tour was huge, but it was built on the crew’s effort and teamwork.
Episode 1 states clearly why the tour exists. Taylor says the idea came to her two years before launch, inspired by two “unpleasant” moments: The sale of her masters and the COVID-19 Pandemic shutdown that halted her career. She says,
What if I built a tour that celebrated all of these different moments in my life and career, where you have chapters divided by albums, and everything changes when the chapter changes?
Episode 1 also covers the most emotional challenges of the tour. Taylor addresses the Vienna bomb threat that forced her to cancel shows and the Southport knife attack at a Swift-themed dance class that killed three children and injured many. During the London legs, she met with the victims’ families before the concerts and became emotional before stepping onstage.
Taylor compares her role to keeping a plane steady: no matter what turbulence is happening, the crowd needs to feel safe. Even with fear and pressure behind the curtain, she becomes the version fans expected her to be, the one who can go from Long Live to Don’t Blame Me in seconds.
Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, now fiancé, didn’t appear on this episode, but Swift made a quick call to Kelce ahead of her London show. Swifties got to see the couple’s cute exchange and their little banter. Both cheered for each other as Kelce said, “You got teammates, I got teammates,” and Swift replied, “You’ve got Coach Reid, I’ve got my mom,” then both burst out laughing. Indeed, they are So High School!
Episode 1 features Ed Sheeran as the guest performer at a London show, Wembley Stadium. Tay was quite nervous before the London show as it was the first show following the Vienna bomb threat, and as usual, her mother, Andrea, was by her side. She shared how she found out about the Vienna bomb threat. Talking to Sheeran backstage, Swift said she didn’t even arrive in Vienna, but she was on the plane.
It was followed by their practice sessions, how Tay would introduce Sheeran on stage, and their jamming session. They run through the songs from Thinking Out Loud to Everything Has Changed and Endgame. Sheeran also taught Swift a few of the chords from Thinking Out Loud.
The scenes are followed by a glimpse of the duo’s performance on stage. The episode ends with Taylor coming down from the adrenaline of the show. She returns to her hotel, greets her cats, removes her makeup, and shares her nightly routine. She said to the viewers that she can’t sleep because she “can’t calm down.” She goes to sleep when she’s tired, after watching TV, eating room service, signing 2000 CDs, until “4 in the morning.”

Episode 2 focuses mainly on the influences of her dancers and the choreography. Taylor reveals she wrote The Tortured Poets Department during the first leg of the tour. When it was time to release it, she and her team secretly built a new TTPD section, rehearsing without speakers to avoid leaks.
Within one month of album release, between the tiny break of the Europe and Asia tour, the team rehearsed the top-secret setlist. Paris became the first crowd to see it, with no warning. Swift wanted to perform the song Florida!!! with Florence Welch, and thankfully, she was available for the final London show.
Swift revealed that she contacted her actor friend Emma Stone, as she did a lot of dancing in some of her movies. Tay said the only name she recommended is Mandy Moore. The choreographer worked mainly for TV and movies but never for artists’ performances. Moore says Taylor’s music felt like “mini movies,” making the storytelling natural.
Associate choreographer and dancer Amanda Balen, who worked with Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, and Lady Gaga, joined the tour too. Balen confessed she stopped dancing because of an injury. However, after Swift’s encouragement to join her on the stage, she took it as her second chance and joined her on the TTPD set.
At one point, Swift mentioned she never had an easy time with dancing. But thanks to Mandy, who taught her choreography from a lyrical perspective, “I learn based on what syllable of the lyric I’m attaching a movement to.”
The episode also spotlights everyone’s favourite Kam Saunders, who explains Taylor’s commitment to diverse casting. Taylor says she wants fans to look at the stage and feel, “I see someone like me up there.” Kam also shared about his family and her mother’s sacrifices. While he falls in love with dancing, his brother, an NFL player, falls for sports. This episode also showed Kam’s mother and her enjoying the show.
“Midas touch on a Chevy door” moments in Episode 2 were Tay giving bonuses to her dancers, drivers, and crew. She writes personalized letters and seals each with wax. While they censored the actual amount, news clips showed the widely reported bonus totals for the team. The news clips showed a whopping $100,000 to the truck drivers, which was handed to the drivers by Swift’s father.
The final segment of episode 2 was Florence Welch from Florence+ the Machine joining Swift for Florida!!! song in London. Welch confessed she had never done choreography before that for her own show. They learned the choreography on the same day ahead of the show, including Welch’s first-ever stage lift.
The episode finally ended with their performance and Tay’s monologue of how satisfying it is for the audience to attend The Eras Tour. Indeed, it’s an Enchanting moment for every Swiftie who attended.
The first two episodes set the standard: the reputation she has, the work, and the people behind the tour, and how each era fits into the bigger picture she wanted to own again.
