Daredevil: Born Again had a lot to prove to fans who were skeptical if it would live up to the Netflix show. But when Marvel Television finally delivered, they exceeded our expectations, not just with the series’ quality, but also with how it buried Easter eggs and comic book references.
It became increasingly clear that Daredevil: Born Again was building to a larger storyline, and season 1 was only the setup. So, here are the small details that could become something substantial over the next season!

1. Law Firm Address in Daredevil: Born Again
Now, whether you consider this an Easter egg or a coincidence is up to you. In Daredevil: Born Again, Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock, and Karen Page’s law firm office’s address is 468. Daredevil issue #468 is titled The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson in which Foggy fakes his own death to escape danger. If season 2 decides to go ahead with this storyline, we could see Matt grieving a friend who isn’t actually gone, but is simply operating in the shadows!
2. Ben Urich’s Niece Meets Wilson Fisk

We all remember how brutally Wilson Fisk killed Ben Urich, a principled and dedicated journalist. Daredevil: Born Again reintroduces us to his legacy through BB Urich, his niece, who runs a web-based investigative journalism platform, and upon meeting Fisk, lets her connection to her uncle slip, and the Kingpin acknowledges him without showing a single flicker of guilt. This exchange makes you wonder if BB knows what truly happened to her uncle, and if she figures it out, will she expose Fisk for it in season 2?
3. A Billboard That Connects to Luke Cage

In the middle of a Times Square sequence, there’s a Harlem’s Paradise billboard. Now that’s the nightclub that was integral to the Luke Cage Netflix series. So seeing it in Daredevil: Born Again doesn’t feel like nostalgia, but breadcrumbs. The billboard suggests the nightclub is currently thriving, which means Luke Cage is active somewhere in New York. With Jessica Jones back in the mix, maybe we’ll get a Defenders reunion! (via ScreenRant)
4. Daredevil: Born Again Hints at Devil’s Reign Storyline

In season 1, Wilson Fisk becomes a legitimate political figure, so it seems like Daredevil: Born Again is building toward the Devil’s Reign comic book storyline. It shows Fisk as the Mayor of New York City, declaring war on the city’s vigilante community. He deploys the Thunderbolts as a state-sanctioned enforcement to hunt down those operating outside the law. Now, with season 2’s trailer and episode one already out, it has become even clearer that the show is going into the Devil’s Reign territory.
5. The Punisher’s Skull Tattoo on a Cop’s Wrist

Before a tense confrontation between Matt Murdock and Frank Castle vs. some corrupt police officers, the camera catches a brief glimpse of a Punisher skull tattoo on the cop’s wrist. Certain law enforcement factions consider it a badge of honor. Though it is said that Jon Bernthal won’t be returning as the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 (via The Tribune), he has a new special coming, titled Punisher: One Last Kill. So the skull could either symbolize his echoes in the show for a long storyline or simply a juxtaposition to the fact that Wilson Fisk was condemning the vigilante in a speech, while the men under him were worshipping the Punisher.
So, Daredevil: Born Again rewards attentive viewers with background details, throwaway lines, and more. Season 1 has already planted many seeds, and season 2 is probably where we’ll see them sprout. So, where do you think the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen will end up next?
Daredevil: Born Again is currently streaming on Disney+ (USA).
