At its core, Is God Is is a revenge movie, but it’s not interested in being clean, polished, or overly realistic. The film follows twin sisters who set out on a violent journey after receiving instructions from their dying mother (whom they call God). Their mission is personal, brutal, and driven by years of anger, trauma, and abandonment. It’s the kind of story that could easily have played out like a standard thriller, but writer and director Jolene McNally brings a heightened, old-school energy to every brutal moment.
