Rope is one of the most essential resources in Sons of the Forest, and knowing where to find it early can make or break your entire survival strategy. Unfortunately, the game does not bring over the ability to craft rope from scratch like its prequel, The Forest, meaning you will need to search the island for it. To help you with it, here are all the reliable locations where rope spawns, as well as some quick farming tips to help you stock up efficiently.

The most consistent rope sources are abandoned camps and cannibal sites. There are roughly 40 abandoned camps and 57 cannibal sites spread across the map, and most of them contain at least one or two rope piles. There remains the obvious risk of getting ambushed if you choose to loot Cannibal Camps, so make sure to carry decent gear with you before you make the journey.
Another good option is cave entrances. The good news is that you rarely need to venture far, as rope tends to show up close to the entrance alongside other crafting materials, so a quick sweep of the mouth of the cave is usually enough. Another tip is to walk along the shorelines on the map, as amongst the different debris that will wash on the beaches, rope is one of the items that is likely to appear.
Rope is also a respawning item, so locations you have already looted will likely refill once you respawn or sleep in your game. This makes it so you can bookmark your reliable spots and go back to them now and then to collect the item reliably.
It’s also worth noting that Kelvin cannot help you in collecting rope, meaning getting this one item is entirely on you this time around.
If you had to pick one region to prioritize, the north is your best bet. The coastline there gives you regular beach debris spawns, and the surrounding area is packed with abandoned camps, making it the most efficient map to grind the item. (as seen in the interactive map screengrab)

Rope is one of the most essential resources in the game as it helps in completing a wide range of essential crafting recipes, including the crafted bow, the zipline rope, the repair tool, and the bone maker trap.
Moreover, it’s also used to build structures like rope bridges and tree shelters. Given how much it is used in both combat prep and base building, you can never really have too much rope, meaning you should farm it aggressively whenever you get the chance to.
