Spread the love

The Coalition has locked in the final PC system requirements for Gears of War: E-Day, the prequel that sends players back to the earliest days of the Locust Invasion, when the game launches on October 6. Ahead of the release, Microsoft has detailed exactly what kind of PC setup is needed to run the game across different graphics presets.

The specs cover three distinct performance tiers, come with a hard requirement around ray tracing, and lean heavily on modern upscaling tools to hit target frame rates. Before you begin clearing space on your SSD, here’s a full breakdown of the minimum, recommended, and ultra requirements that will shape your experience on PC.

Ray Tracing, Upscaling, and Storage Requirements for Gears of War: E-Day

One of the biggest talking points in the final specs is a strict ray-tracing mandate. The Coalition has explicitly stated that a hardware ray-tracing-capable graphics card is required, and cards lacking dedicated ray-tracing hardware simply won’t run the game, since it relies on ray-traced reflections and global illumination throughout.

To help hit smooth frame rates at every tier, the game supports DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, and XeSS 3.0, along with HDR, ultrawide monitor support, and a built-in benchmark mode with extensive PC settings. In every listed configuration, from minimum to ultra, upscaling is switched on rather than native rendering.

SSD is mandatory for installing the 115GB of game files. Moreover, the pre-installation window for the game opens on September 29, with early access beginning on October 1 for Game Pass members and pre-order holders. The full public launch lands on October 6.
