Gachiakuta episode 21 was peak, in terms of action, comedy, plot progression, pacing, and above all, animation. It is clear that Studio Bones is putting everything into Gachiakuta, and the result speaks for itself.
The action in this episode showed a mastery of the combination of 2D and 3D animation. Bones has mastered the craft already, and the episode looks stunning to say the least. The movement of each and every character is precise, with no wasted frames to drag it down.
Rudo’s Insane Awakening Steals the Show in Gachiakuta Episode 21
Rudo took his powers to the next level in Gachiakuta episode 21. So far, the power of his 3R gloves has been limited because they were constantly distributed between different vital instruments. In this episode, Rudo concentrates entirely on a single weapon, which created the most amazing level-up, both visually and thematically.
The most important part is that the level-up did not feel forced. It’s a power-up that makes sense given the information that the viewers already have about his gloves and their uses. He isn’t pulling a new skill out of nowhere, but instead just concentrating his pre-existing strength in a single shot. This also means he is burning through his energy reserves thrice as fast.
Nonetheless, the shot was the most beautifully animated scene in the entire episode and even the entire anime so far. One can hear fans screaming in the distance as soon as Rudo’s gun became a monstrous weapon, capable of shattering through Bundus’ hands.

The finale of the episode showed Noerde returning to take her revenge against Riyo. Riyo showed mercy in an earlier episode because of her promise to Enjin, which compelled her to avoid killing anyone. Yet, it created a disastrous rebound as Noerde seems more powerful than ever.
Time is running out, and the kaiju trash beast is almost near to crossing the forbidden border. At a crucial moment when the Cleaners were so near to destroying the beast’s core, Noerde arrives in her full glory.
One can’t help but cheer on the fierceness of the villainess, especially because of her last performance. This time, her sole target seems to be Riyo, which means she needs to power up as well. Gachiakuta is an expert at subverting expectations, which means anything can happen in the next episode.
