However, the fake news was quickly disregarded as there was no official confirmation about the casting from the creators of the series, Netflix, or Eiichiro Oda.
This confirmed that these images were nothing but an AI-generated prank that someone played on One Piece fans who have been dying to find out the new cast for the live-action adaptation.

Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece Live-Action
Netflix’s One Piece live-action casting announcements have always been a big deal for fans and for the streaming platform. This is why these announcements instantly grab attention and quickly become trending topics on the internet, especially for the second season.
The series is about to make a return as it is scheduled to be released on March 10, 2026, and almost every major character has been confirmed by Netflix itself.
According to the streaming platform, Rigo Sanchez will play Monkey D. Dragon, Charithra Chandran will play Miss Wednesday (Vivi), and Sendhil Ramamurthy will play Nefertari Cobra.
Katey Sagal will portray Dr. Kureha, and Mark Harelik has been cast as Dr. Hiriluk. Camrus Johnson will play Mr. 5, with Jazzara Jaslyn joining the cast as Miss Valentine.
David Dastmalchian will step into the role of Mr. 3. Werner Coester will appear as Dory, while Brendan Murray will play Brogy. Clive Russell has been cast as Crocus.
Callum Kerr will portray Smoker, and Julia Rehwald will take on the role of Tashigi. Joe Manganiello will play Crocodile, and finally, Lera Abova has been cast as Nico Robin.
While these announcements were made earlier, the revelation of other prominent characters, Ace, Chopper, and Bon Clay, came later on. Ace will be played by Cobra Kai actor Xolo Maridueña, Mikaela Hoover will voice Chopper, and finally Cole Escola will portray Bon Clay in the second season of One Piece live-action.

Considering the hype that these announcements created, it is safe to assume that Shraddha Kapoor’s reveal as Boa Hancock was obviously fake.
Introducing Hancock Now Disrupts Netflix’s One Piece Timeline
Another aspect that confirms Hancock’s casting to be fake is her timeline within the One Piece storyline. Hancock was officially introduced within the narrative during the Amazon Lily arc when Luffy was sent to the island by Bartholomew Kuma. From there on, she became a significant part of the series and is speculated to bring a decent change to the final war.
As season 2 of One Piece live-action will adapt the Alabasta saga (except the Alabasta arc), it wouldn’t make sense for the creators to cast Hancock right now. Her character doesn’t appear anywhere in this part of the story, and bringing her this early would disrupt the natural progression of the plot.
As much as fans would love to see the actress playing Hancock’s character, her introduction will have a greater impact when the series reaches her actual storyline.
World-building is one of the most important aspects of One Piece, and just like the anime, the live-action adaptation also needs time to introduce characters and locations at the right moment. Hopefully, the story within the live-action will reach the Amazon Lily arc, and we will get to see who fits the role of the Pirate Empress in One Piece.
