Dark Matter is back on Apple TV after a two-year gap, and the second season is not dropping all at once. The show returned with its premiere, A Quiet Life, on Friday, August 28, 2026, and the remaining nine episodes will arrive one per week through October 30.
Blake Crouch, who wrote the novel that the first season adapted, is back as creator, showrunner and writer, with Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry co-writing every episode of the new season alongside him. Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly lead again as Jason and Daniela Dessen.
This time, the story moves past the book entirely. While Season 1 ran nine episodes, Season 2 stretches to ten. Here is the full release schedule, plus when each episode goes live in your part of the world.

Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 2, titled A Perfect World, arrives on Friday, September 4, 2026, exactly one week after the premiere. While the first season opened with a two-episode drop, this second season launched with only one.
That makes Episode 2 the first real test of whether the new season can hold the momentum the premiere built. There are no breaks in the run, so the weekly Friday pattern will continue to the tenth episode.
Streaming requires an active Apple TV subscription, which costs $12.99 a month in the US after a seven-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
Dark Matter Season 2 Global Release Schedule and Times

Apple TV releases globally at the same moment, so the day and hour simply shift depending on where you are watching. New episodes are typically scheduled to become available at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET every Friday.
However, Apple does occasionally push episodes live a few hours early, a measure likely intended to make the show available in most of the regions by morning. On this account, the episodes of the show will likely drop on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET.
Dark Matter Season 2 Plot and Cast: What Is the Apple TV Show About?

Dark Matter Season 1 was adapted from Blake Crouch’s novel of the same name, but the second season has apparently run past the novels. Season 2 picks up with the Dessens settled into a quiet life in a reality that finally feels safe, until something forces them to run again. The tension this time is internal as much as external. Jason’s fixation on the Box deepens, while Daniela’s paranoia grows sharp enough to threaten the stability they just built.
Elsewhere, Amanda and Ryan, stranded together in an alternate universe at the end of Season 1, try to find their way back to the world Ryan came from, and Blair works to stop Leighton from building the perfect world he keeps chasing.
Edgerton and Connelly return alongside Alice Braga as Amanda Lucas, Jimmi Simpson as Ryan Holder, Dayo Okeniyi as Leighton Vance, Oakes Fegley as Charlie Dessen, and Amanda Brugel as Blair Caplan, now a series regular.
Chris Diamantopoulos joins as Agent Mitchel MacNamara, who is investigating at least one version of Jason. M.N. Miller’s review of Dark Matter Season 2 called this sophomore season “bigger, bolder, and more emotionally ambitious.”
