Fans of the Resident Evil franchise have been asking for a Code: Veronica remake for a very long time, especially following the release of the other Resident Evil remakes in recent years. Thankfully, the Japanese studio has finally listened, and Resident Evil Veronica arrives on your PS5, Xbox Series X/ S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

The original Code: Veronica game launched on the Sega Dreamcast back in 2000, and it followed Claire Redfield as she searched for her missing brother Chris, a quest that led her to infiltrate an Umbrella facility in Paris, only to be captured and shipped off to Rockfort Island, an Umbrella prison complex where she finds herself in the middle of a T-virus outbreak.
Thankfully, the game is finally getting the modern treatment it deserves after decades. This isn’t the first time Capcom has made waves at Summer Game Fest either; the studio used last year’s showcase to unveil Resident Evil Requiem, so the pattern of big RE announcements at SGF is becoming a tradition.
What We Know About the Remake

There are a lot of details still missing about the upcoming title, but the remake is reportedly one of Capcom’s top priorities and could end up being the largest remake in the history of the series, according to the leaks so far. Reports have been floating around before the game was even officially announced, supposedly including a semi-open world and an expanded storyline as well as development on Capcom’s own RE Engine.
The official trailer shows a brief preview of a woman entering an eerie apartment, who is later confirmed to be Claire Redfield herself, before things go south. Furthermore, what’s confirmed right now is the game’s official release next year, i.e., 2027, and the platforms it’s coming on, PS5, Xbox Series X/ S, PC, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
