Elden Ring is packed with unforgettable boss encounters, but not every great fight receives the same attention as Malenia or Radahn. Some bosses are overshadowed by more famous encounters despite being absolutely entertaining.
From an early-game challenge to Metyr, Mother of Fingers, these seven Elden Ring bosses deserve more appreciation, and more importantly, love.
7. Divine Beast Dancing Lion

The Divine Beast Dancing Lion is admittedly one of the first major bosses players encounter in Shadow of the Erdtree, but is often forgotten way too quickly. The creature’s strange appearance initially makes it difficult to understand what exactly players are fighting.
Its constantly shifting movements and enormous arena presence make the encounter feel completely different from most base-game bosses.
6. Metyr, Mother of Fingers

Few bosses in Elden Ring are as strange as Metyr. Hidden deep within the Land of Shadow, this boss looks like something pulled directly from the game’s most unsettling cosmic mythology. The encounter stands out because of its enormous size and its connection to the mysterious fingers. Reaching Metyr also requires progressing through a particular questline, meaning many players can finish the entire DLC without encountering her.
5. Scadutree Avatar

The Scadutree Avatar is an enormous sunflower-like creature that initially looks almost comical. That first impression quickly disappears once the battle begins. Rather than being a simple cinematic fight, the encounter comes with three phases to fight through and requires players to repeatedly adjust how they are fighting.
The boss is also a Remembrance boss, placing it among Shadow of the Erdtree’s major encounters despite being relatively easy to miss during exploration.
4. Royal Knight Loretta

Royal Knight Loretta is one of the game’s most enjoyable mounted encounters. Found in Caria Manor, the spectral knight combines fast horseback attacks with magical projectiles.
What makes Loretta especially interesting is that she isn’t simply another mounted knight, and her attacks encourage players to manage distance carefully, while her magical greatbow gives her a ranged threat that can punish any overly passive strategy.
3. Romina, Saint of the Bud

Shadow of the Erdtree introduced several spectacular bosses, and Romina, Saint of the Bud, is arguably one of the expansion’s most overlooked ones in comparison to Messmer and Radahn, despite being a mandatory fight. Found within the Church of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, Romina combines human, insect, and even floral elements into one bizarre design.
Her moveset is also an unusual one. She can attack with her poleblade while simultaneously using her centipede-like body and scorpion tail, forcing players to pay attention to attacks coming from multiple directions. Scarlet Rot also ends up playing a major role in the encounter.
2. Ancestor Spirit

When it comes to Ancestor Spirit, instead of relying on overwhelming aggression, this fight creates an atmospheric and almost dreamlike experience. The boss can be found in the underground regions of the Lands Between, and gracefully leaps around the arena while combining ranged attacks with sweeping movements. The glowing arena and haunting music make the encounter feel unlike most other Elden Ring bosses.

Godrick the Grafted is often remembered as one of Elden Ring’s first major roadblocks, but his fight deserves more credit than it usually gets. As the ruler of Stormveil Castle, Godrick combines grotesque character design with a surprisingly entertaining moveset.
His first phase teaches players to recognize delayed attacks and punish openings, while the second phase completely changes the fight. Godrick grafting a dragon’s head onto his arm is one of the game’s most memorable transformations, and his attacks become considerably more aggressive afterward.
