Star-Lord might return to the MCU. A wild new rumor claims Chris Pratt could suit up as the Guardians hero once again. The Hollywood star was last seen in the superhero franchise in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
According to insider James Mack’s latest scoop, the GOTG hero will reportedly return as Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday. While James has a credible track record, fans should still take the latest rumor with a grain of salt until Marvel Studios confirms it officially.
It’s not the first time in 2026 that reports have surfaced about Pratt’s MCU return. Earlier this year, another insider, My Time To Hello, also claimed that he would return, but in Secret Wars.
What MCU movies and projects has Chris Pratt previously starred in?
Chris Pratt appeared as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Its ensemble cast also featured Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, Vin Diesel as Groot, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon.

The movie became a blockbuster, earning over $770 million against a $170 million budget. As a result, Marvel Studios released two more installments, completing a successful trilogy. Pratt returned as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 before reprising his role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The 47-year-old also made a cameo as Star-Lord in Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor: Love and Thunder before returning, again, in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Released in 2022, it was a live-action television special featuring the beloved GOTG characters.
Lastly, the actor appeared in the third Guardians movie, whose ending confirmed that Star-Lord, who was seen back on Earth, will return.
In an interview with Collider last year, Pratt made it clear that he will be back. “I can’t say, for fans of mine, where they’ll see Star-Lord again, but I can tell them we made a promise at the end of [Guardians of the Galaxy] Vol. 3 that the legendary Star-Lord will return, and he will return.”
