Two of shonen’s most recognizable power systems approach combat from opposite directions. Naruto‘s Sharingan turns perception itself into a weapon, allowing users to read movement, copy techniques, perceive chakra, and cast powerful genjutsu. Hunter x Hunter‘s Nen abilities, meanwhile, reward specialization through aura categories, conditions, restrictions, and carefully constructed abilities.
That makes this comparison less about raw strength and more about mechanics. Could a Nen ability outperform the Sharingan because it provides something the famous Uchiha eye simply cannot reproduce? In several cases, the answer is surprisingly close. Here are five abilities that demonstrate why:
5. Gallery Fake Creates True Physical Replicas Over Illusions

Kortopi’s Gallery Fake can reproduce an object after he touches it with his left hand, creating an exact physical replica with his right. Unlike a conventional visual illusion, the copy occupies space and can function as a real object. Even enormous buildings can be duplicated, although every replica disappears after 24 hours and Nen abilities themselves cannot be reproduced.
That gives Gallery Fake a practical advantage over the base Sharingan’s illusion-based toolkit: it manufactures something tangible. It ranks fifth because its usefulness is overwhelmingly dependent on preparation, and its copies are temporary.
4. Hide and Seek Creates a Dimension With Kamui-Like Utility
Knov’s Hide and Seek creates portals into a four-floor Nen mansion containing 21 rooms. Entrances can be established across surfaces, allowing people and objects to be transported, hidden or moved through the artificial dimension.
Its tactical versatility can resemble aspects of Kamui, particularly for infiltration, evacuation and storage. But there is an important distinction: Kamui is an advanced Mangekyō Sharingan technique capable of transferring targets into another dimension, while Hide and Seek is primarily a transportation network rather than an offensive space-time weapon.
3. God’s Alibi Mutes All Sensory Detection Better Than Any Ocular Illusion

The ability commonly translated as Perfect Plan, or “Proof of God’s Absence,” belongs to Meleoron; “God’s Accomplice” extends its effect to someone he touches. While holding his breath, Meleoron effectively removes his presence from another person’s awareness, rather than merely making himself visually invisible.
That creates a nightmare matchup for ordinary Sharingan perception. The Sharingan excels at seeing movement, chakra and subtle physical cues, but Perfect Plan attacks awareness itself. Even so, Meleoron’s breath limit makes prolonged use difficult, preventing it from ranking above abilities with broader applications.
2. Skill Hunter Outperforms Basic Technique Copying

The Sharingan’s legendary copying ability is incredibly flexible, but it fundamentally observes and reproduces techniques the user can actually perform. Chrollo’s Skill Hunter goes several steps further: after fulfilling its strict conditions, he steals another person’s Nen ability and stores it inside his conjured book.
That distinction is enormous. Chrollo does not merely memorize an opponent’s technique; the original owner loses access to the stolen ability. His Bookmark Theme later allows him to maintain an ability while using another, even enabling simultaneous use of two stolen abilities under the right conditions.
1. Wish Granting Warps Reality Far Beyond Ocular Genjutsu

Nanika’s wish-granting power is the ultimate example of an ability whose mechanics escape a conventional comparison. Strictly speaking, it is not confirmed to be a Nen ability. Nanika is a mysterious entity connected to Alluka and believed to originate from the Dark Continent. After three requests are fulfilled, Nanika can grant a wish with demonstrated effects including teleportation and the restoration of Gon’s ruined body.
The larger the wish, however, the more dangerous the subsequent requests become, potentially causing catastrophic deaths if they are refused. That makes it No. 1 because reality itself becomes the battlefield. The Sharingan can manipulate perception, and advanced Mangekyō abilities can reach extraordinary levels, but no standard Sharingan function offers this.
