The recent box office predictions suggest that Zootopia 2 is looking to earn more than some of the previous Thanksgiving releases. Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the much-awaited sequel was released in theaters on November 26, 2025. The voice cast of the film features stars like Ginnifer Goodwin, Idris Elba, Jason Bateman, Shakira, and many more.

Zootopia 2 could cross $150 million in first five days

The early predictions state that Zootopia 2 is on track to earn around $135 million to $150 million at the box office during the Thanksgiving week. On the other hand, Wicked: For Good, which recently opened at the box office, is looking to make around $80 million during the 3-day weekend.

According to a recent report by Variety, Zootopia 2’s five-day collection will reportedly surpass the Thanksgiving week earnings of Wicked, which also released around the same time last year. The other movies that rank among the top grossers during the Thanksgiving week are Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which made $109 million in five days, and Frozen II, which collected around $125 million.

Meanwhile, the top-grossing movie during the holiday was Moana 2, which earned $225 million over five days. However, Zootopia 2 might not be able to beat that record, according to the report.

Albeit, the animated sequel could reportedly surpass its predecessor both at the domestic and international box office. Analysts suggest that ticket sales might surpass the expected numbers, and the movie might get an opening of $145 million from the international market and $125 million domestically from 4,000 theatres. Per Deadline, this will take its total opening collection to $270 million.

2016’s Zootopia was a billion-dollar grosser at the global box office. It collected around $682 million internationally and $341 million domestically from 3,827 theatres. Furthermore, according to Box Office Mojo, it took an opening of a whopping $75 million.
