Netflix’s new K-drama, Genie, Make a Wish, is officially set to release on October 3, 2025. Directed by Ahn Gil-ho and written by the acclaimed Kim Eun-sook (known for his work in The Glory, Goblin, and Descendants of the Sun), the fantasy rom-com features an exciting cast starring Kim Woo-bin as Jinn and Bae Suzy as Ka-young in the lead role.
Joining Woo-bin and Suzy are Ahn Eun-jin as mysterious Mi-joo, Noh Sang-hyun as Soo-hyun, Ko Kyu-pil as Sayyid, and Lee Joo-young as Min-ji. Genie, Make a Wish promises to bring a blend of fantasy, humor, and romance.

Genie, Make a Wish tells the story of Jinn, a lamp spirit who awakens after a thousand years only to be bound to Ga-young, his new master. Ga-young is cold, heartless, and utterly disinterested in getting her wishes fulfilled; however, Jinn is determined to push her past that indifference. Unlike other genie tales, this one is funnier, cringey, and full of fights between two people who don’t trust each other.
In the teaser, Jinn warns,
He’s not your run-of-the-mill genie, but a truly evil one. To use a name you may recognize, it’s Satan.
Well, clearly, he isn’t any usual genie who just shows up to make dreams come true. His words literally set the tone for a twisted story. Moreover, he pressures Ga-young to make her wishes right away. However, she’s a fierce lady who feels nothing and fires back at him coldly, saying,
Should my first wish be for you to die?
Their sharp exchanges reveal that Genie, Make a Wish, isn’t going to be a simple romance but a dangerous game. Also, the trailer and poster of the show highlight their strange bond. In a striking poster image, Jinn is seen with his hands on Ga-young’s throat while she points a hairpin at his neck.

Overall, the series brings comedy, romance, and fantasy together, but with a dark twist. And the real mystery here isn’t about granting three wishes, it’s about whether Jinn can break Ga-young’s icy heart.

Back in 2016, Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy won over hearts as a couple in Uncontrollably Fond, where they played lovers in an emotional story filled with heartbreak and romance. Even today, the show remains memorable thanks to the duo’s undeniable chemistry. And ever since then, fans have been waiting for them to share the screen again. Now, after 9 years, the two will finally reunite on screen in Netflix’s Genie, Make a Wish.
