Helldivers 2 recently dropped a Major Order success message that mentioned something called the Star of Peace for the first time. High Command “declassified” this mysterious Democracy Space Station upgrade after Helldivers successfully secured the Magma Planets during Operation Free Space’s construction phase.
Nobody knows what it actually does yet, but the phrasing alone had players flashing back to the Death Star from Star Wars. “Projecting Liberty’s light across entire planetary systems” doesn’t exactly scream modest tactical upgrade. It sounds like something built to vaporize continents and call it patriotism.
Construction of Pandora Base has begun. High Command has declassified the ultimate objective of Operation Free Space: the Star of Peace. This glorious upgrade will augment the Democracy Space Station into a beacon capable of projecting Liberty’s light across entire planetary systems.
Realistically, it’s probably a new DSS-exclusive Tactical Action stratagem. Something on the scale of the Orbital 380mm HE Barrage, but requiring Super Sample donations instead of Rare Samples, with correspondingly bigger, laser-powered explosions for spreading freedom.

Helldivers saw “Star of Peace” and “projecting Liberty’s light” and immediately understood the assignment. Death Star memes flooded Reddit within minutes of the Major Order completion:

The optimism isn’t entirely unfounded, though. Why would High Command name something this ominously if it wasn’t designed to delete entire bot Factory Worlds or squid command ships from orbit?

Of course, there’s a catch. Pandora Base needs to finish construction before the Star of Peace can activate. That means we’re likely in for a multi-phase rollout, with several Major Orders still to come before the upgrade goes live:

Right now, the community is in the thick of the speculation phase—where theories fly, creators fuel the hype, and expectations inflate faster than Super Earth can print new recruitment posters. Everyone wants to believe this upgrade changes everything, even if history says otherwise.

This isn’t the first time Helldivers have let imagination get ahead of reality. In fact, this exact cycle happened during the DSS construction itself. Players convinced themselves it would offer social hubs, clan deployments, customizable orbital platforms, and basically everything except what it actually became.
Anyone suggesting the DSS might just be a voting system for buffs and stratagems got downvoted into oblivion. When reality hit, disappointment followed, and suddenly, Arrowhead had “betrayed” the community, even though none of those features were ever confirmed.
Star of Peace will likely be impressive within Helldivers 2‘s existing framework. A 10x more devastating Orbital Laser that requires massive community coordination sounds perfectly on-brand. But expecting it to nuke entire planets or introduce new mechanics that rewrite mission structure? That’s not a safe bet.
So, fellow Helldivers, keep pushing back the bugs, bots, and squids while spreading democracy the only way we know how. Just maybe let Arrowhead do their thing instead of writing your own patch notes in advance. Saves everyone the outrage when reality lands!
Are you expecting Death Star capabilities or just a bigger boom button? Will the community stay reasonable this time or repeat the DSS hype cycle? Let us know in the comments below!
