Prime Video dropped a surprise trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 today (August 29). It also confirms that the letter waiting for Belly in Paris is from Conrad Fisher, teeing up a book-faithful twist.
In Episode 8, we saw Belly’s wedding to Jeremiah collapsing, after which she heads to Paris. Here, she’s working a part-time job, hanging out with her friends, and sometimes even thinking about the past. Towards the end, she collects a couple of letters, and over that shot, we hear Christopher Briney’s voiceover as Conrad saying, “Dear Belly.”
This sets the tone for Episode 9, signaling that we will finally get Jenny Han’s Book 3 letter sequence on the screen.
Jenny Han’s Book Moment Finally Arrives in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 9
The Summer I Turned Pretty has been weaving in pieces of Han’s third book, We’ll Always Have Summer, all season, but Conrad’s letters stand out. They are taken directly from the books and are pivotal for one reason: time. Letters slow the story down, giving ample time to the leads for reflection.
It is because of them that Belly finally sees Conrad without all the chaos around them. Author Jenny Han said in a July 3 interview with PEOPLE that she enjoys surprising fans, adding, “I like a hopeful ending. I don’t like too neat of an ending, personally.” That balance is why the series saved the letters for Paris. The letters also hit harder because of where the Fisher brothers are now.
Christopher Briney added in an August 28 interview with PEOPLE that “At the end of the day, they’re blood, so there is that unconditional love.” So, the letters show the more accountable Conrad, someone who is willing to write his feelings instead of lashing out. In Episode 9, maybe we can see Belly and Conrad addressing their emotions.

The Paris storyline doesn’t just bring letters; it also brings several new faces who will be part of Belly’s journey. In recurring roles, we have Corinna Brown, Fernando Cattori, Isaline Prevost Radeff, and Jahz Armando. Brown is most famously known for Heartstopper on Netflix, while Armando has credits in Gangs of London (via PEOPLE).
In addition to this, Cattori, who is a Mexico-born actor, is shown in the trailer as a potential romantic interest for Belly. These new faces also suggest that Paris will test Belly in different ways, pulling her away from the chaos of Cousins.
