Taylor Swift: The End of an Era Episode 4 is out today, and Taylor Swift finally opened up about her breakups and her relationship with Travis Kelce, and who was the matchmaker. The episode made it clear that she has found a relationship that fits her life, not one that competes with it.
The docuseries released episodes 3 and 4 today, on December 19, 2025, on Disney+. Episode 4 reframes Swift’s last heartbreaks, her creative team, and her relationship with Travis Kelce as part of a single narrative. While Tay remained largely private about her previous relationships, the episode offers rare insight into how deeply that period affected her and how she is healing now.

Taylor Swift:The End of an Era Episode 4 begins with Swift recording a few songs from her album The Tortured Poets Department. She explains that the album was written during the most emotionally challenging period of her life. Without dropping the name, she confirms she went through two breakups during the first half of the Eras Tour: Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy.
She explains that the album reflects feeling dehumanized by fame and relationships.
Feeling like I’m not a person, I’m just this big conglomerate that no one sees as a human being, especially not the men that I date.
She explains that performing on tour became her anchor. Despite the heartbreak, the tour was the only thing that made her keep going. The Eras Tour gave her purpose and routine when everything else felt unstable. Swift adds, “Men will let you down. The Eras Tour never will.”
During the New Orleans show, Taylor was sharing with her mom the preparations for the acoustic session, which featured a mashup of “Welcome to New York” and “Hits Different.” Her mom pointed out that it was like telling the story of when they first met. However, she mistakenly thought they were talking about Kelce. Then, she asked, “Who are we talking about now?” Her mother replied that it’s Travis Kelce, her boyfriend. Tay clarified that these are two breakup songs. “Hits Different is a breakup song.”
Tay explains that the songs are about a person who went through a terrible breakup, and they can’t move on, but then they moved to a big city to find a sense of purpose. Whether she understands it now or not, Tay said her mom can believe that, “she doesn’t have to convince me to be in love with someone who’s good for me.” Is her mom unintentionally shading the exes?
Taylor Swift: The End of an Era: Andrea the Matchmaker
At the beginning of episode 4, when Swift was lounging backstage, she talks about Travis Kelce and how their relationship began. The most surprising reveal of the episode was that the matchmaker is none other than her mother, Andrea Swift. The scene showed the now-famous story of Kelce attending her show, attempting to give her a friendship bracelet with his number. The people inside the room convince Andrea to tell the full story.
Andrea explains that she looked into Kelce after seeing headlines about him attending the show. She called her cousin, Robin, a resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, and asked him about Kelce. She replied, “Oh my god, he’s the nicest guy. And you know what? He really loves his mom!” That was enough for her to encourage Taylor to meet him.
She later explained that his approach was the most “earnest” and “sweetest” one. “He brought you something from your world. To me, that really said a lot.”
Later in the episode, she gushed over Kelce and explained how her previous relationship was different from now. Taylor said that touring had always made relationships difficult. In the past, she felt she couldn’t nurture both love and career at the same time. However, when Kelce entered her life, the dynamic changed.
Tay said how similar their job is. They both go out in NFL stadiums and entertain people for three and a half hours. It’s their passion that they have been chasing their dreams since childhood. She confessed,
I don’t think I ever thought I’d meet a guy who had that same trajectory. And I have realised with this person in my life that just was the right fit for me, you can have the two passions coexist, and they actually fuel each other.
The episode closes at the Indianapolis show. Swift performs acoustic mashups and meets Kelce backstage. Tay also noticed the audience sporting his jersey number and how her fans really love him, “He’s lovable.”
The episode also showed Sabrina Carpenter joining Swift as the guest performer during the New Orleans shows. They rehearsed and performed Espresso, Is It Over Now? and Please Please Please.
Another highlight from the episode was on dancer Whyley, who wanted to perform in …Are You Ready For It? But the set only features female dancers. Whyley shares how he was often told to tone himself down earlier in his career, but on Swift’s team, everything changed. Tay even said that their show has no restrictions. He finally fits in Amanda’s costume, and Tay gave him the approval. He finally performed in the New Orleans show.
The End of an Era Episode 4 showed a glimpse at a new chapter in Taylor Swift’s life, and hopefully, we’ll get even more surprising details in the next episode. Episodes 5 and 6 have the last-minute schedule change. It’s arriving on December 23, 2025.
Taylor Swift: The End of an Era, Episodes 1-4, are available to stream on Disney+ (US).
