Arsenal’s first choice defender Gabriel Maghales been ruled out for at least two months after picking up an injury with the Brazilian national team.
The centre-back was forced off during Brazil’s friendly, visibly clutching his thigh before being substituted just before the hour mark. Scans later confirmed a muscle strain, prompting the Brazilian FA to immediately withdraw him from the squad for their next fixture.
Arteta confirmed that Gabriel will be ruled out of the next few weeks which is a big blow for the Gunners as the season gets busier . According to him, the defender will undergo another scan in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury.
He said,
“Gabriel is gonna be out for weeks. We’ll have another scan next Wednesday. It’s a blow, but we have very good options players will have to step up now.”
The injury comes at an unfortunate time for both club and country. There are reports Reports indicate that Gabriel could miss several weeks, with early assessments suggesting a potential 4–8 week layoff, depending on his recovery progress. That timeline would see him sidelined for key upcoming matches, deepening the concerns for Arsenal as they navigate a tough part of their season.
As Gabriel begins his rehabilitation, both Brazil and Arsenal will be hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery. His presence, leadership, and consistency have been crucial at club level, and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void.
Arsenal fans will be keeping a close eye on his progress over the coming weeks as he works his way back to full fitness.
