With a title like Death of the Silver Surfer, it is unsurprising that Norrin Radd should die. It is also unsurprising that he should be replaced with a female successor, mirroring the character from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. What is surprising, however, is that the series should introduce a new female Silver Surfer, who is not Norrin Radd’s lover Shalla-Bal.
The story of Death of the Silver Surfer finds Norrin Radd returning to Earth to end a mundane military conflict. This puts him in the crosshairs of B.A.N. – the Bureau of Alien Neutralization. However, the miniseries also reveals that B.A.N. has been bought outright by billionaire Dennis Harmon.

A vicious and cowardly crook, Harmon previously fought against Captain America. He attempted to use his corporation Eaglestar to establish private plantations with mind-controlled slave labor. HIs latest scheme is to use B.A.N. to target and capture aliens he can exploit. Being the sort to go big or go home, Harmon sets his top agents upon the Silver Surfer.
Who is the new Silver Surfer?
Marvel confirmed, in the solicitation for Death of the Silver Surfer #5, that B.A.N. Agent Kelly Koh will be bequeathed the Power Cosmic by Norrin Radd. A former agent of both S.H.I.E.L.D. and S.W.O.R.D., Koh is also a xenophobe with a deep hatred of aliens. However, her conviction in the righteousness of B.A.N.’s mission faulters in the face of Norrin Radd’s compassion and Dennis Harmon’s callous attitude towards endangering human civilians.
Three preview pages, a cover, and a character design sheet for Death of the Silver Surfer #5 may be viewed below.
It is unknown precisely how Norrin Radd shall meet his end. It is also unclear how Galactus may react to the Power Cosmic being usurped by one he did not choose to wield it. In any case, there is a new Silver Surfer, and she is nothing like the one in the MCU.
Death of the Silver Surfer #5 arrives in comic shops everywhere on October 29, 2025.
