In the post, Diesel referred to himself and the creator of Star Wars as architects who shaped two of Hollywood’s best franchises. Lucas created one of the best sci-fi stories in cinematic history, which continues to expand through new stories and projects. Diesel is one of the central characters in the Fast & Furious franchise, which has become a multi-billion-dollar global phenomenon in Hollywood. The picture was taken during the Lucas Museum’s media preview period, ahead of its official opening.

Why the Lucas Museum took more than 16 years to reach opening day

The Lucas Museum took over 16 years to complete due to construction site issues and the pandemic. However, after a long journey, George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson, are set to open the Lucas Museum to the public on September 22, 2026.

This museum is dedicated to the human experience and to how people connect with stories through illustrated storytelling as a universal language. Lucas said, “Stories are mythology, and when illustrated, they help humans understand the mysteries of life.”

“This is a museum of the people’s art—the images are illustrations of beliefs we live with every day. For that reason, this art belongs to everyone. Our hope is that as people move through the galleries, they will see themselves, and their humanity, reflected back,” added the co-founder Hobson.

The Lucas Museum is designed by the architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects. Its collection includes more than 40,000 works across 35 galleries, representing one of the most significant collections of narrative art.

These galleries are organized after human experiences such as love, family, community, play, work, sports, childhood, adventure, and more. Mural paintings from the 20th and 21st centuries, comic art, children’s book illustrations, and science fiction illustrations are among the artworks that will be displayed in the museum.
