Werewolf by Night star Gael García Bernal has offered an intriguing tease about Jack Russell’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel Studios Special Presentation premiered in October 2022 to critical acclaim, opening up the universe’s supernatural corner. Despite persistent fan interest, Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce a sequel.
While answering questions in a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, Bernal wrote about his experience working on the special. “I urge you to do whatever you can, whatever is in your power, to push Marvel into some sense of responsibility and also of ambition,” the actor wrote in response.

Bernal also teased Marvel’s original plans for Jack Russel in the same thread, confirming that Marvel once planned to expand that side of the universe extensively.
“It was for me a wonderful project to do; I loved doing it; I had so much fun experiencing that, and for me it was only a taste,” he added. “I wish I could do more; we had many plans. I hope they materialize one day!”
García Bernal has remained busy across film and television, starring in La Máquina, The End of It, and Magellan. He will next appear in the feature Zero A.D.: The Birth of Christ later this year.
Updates on a Werewolf by Night sequel have been slow. Earlier this year, director Michael Giacchino revealed that he was still planning to make a sequel, despite it taking a long time to put together.
Werewolf By Night introduced fans to Russell, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, and other characters. The TV special ended with the titular werewolf and Man-Thing together, teasing future adventures.
The black-and-white special was later re-released in color on Disney+. Marvel also released a documentary, titled Director by Night, on the streamer to give fans a peek into its production.
