That said, an exact release time for the anime on online streaming platforms hasn’t been announced yet. Moreover, details regarding the anime’s English dub haven’t been revealed, as of this writing. Psyren is a masterclass in psychological thriller storytelling. It follows a high school student named Ageha Yoshina, who picks up a mysterious red phone card left behind in a public telephone booth and gets pulled into a deadly survival game in a desolate, monster-filled alternate future.
Now, if that already sounds promising, then buckle up your seatbelts! The anime will present a ruined, post-apocalyptic world set in a parallel timeline, and the introduction of the monster-like creatures will eventually create phenomenal world-building. The way the mystery behind the apocalypse unfolds is expected to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. After all, Psyren was one of those manga, like Vagabond, that fans had long been waiting to see adapted.

The trailer doesn’t waste a moment and gets straight into the main premise of Psyren. Ageha and Amamiya’s first interaction at school is teased in the trailer, and it shows how Amamiya hints at the future world. The trailer essentially summarizes what is expected to be the first episode of the anime, as Ageha is even shown using Amamiya’s red phone card, with “Psyren” written on it. He is then immediately transported to a post-apocalyptic world.
The action sequences in the following cuts of the trailer also look promising. The opening theme song, “Warning!!” by CLAN QUEEN, caught our attention the most. Furthermore, the trailer also reveals a little about the power system in the anime, which revolves around “Psy.” So, all in all, the trailer makes it pretty obvious that the storyline is going to have themes of reclaiming the future and saving humanity from an unknown crisis.

The Psyren anime is confirmed to be released on Crunchyroll’s official streaming platform (via Crunchyroll) worldwide, excluding Japan and China. You can either watch it on the Crunchyroll app or their website with a minimum subscription plan of $9.99 per month. The anime, however, isn’t listed for streaming on any other platforms as of now.
