The use of the word “daddy” immediately sparked disbelief and viral memes across platforms.
Tom Holland’s delivery of the line, “My dad is coming home,” has also drawn heavy criticism for sounding like a modern teenager rather than a character from ancient Greece. The casual phrasing and American accents have led many to feel that the film prioritizes a modern, Hollywood-friendly lens over the mythic power of Homer’s original story.
