With Wicked: For Good now playing in theaters, its streaming release date has become an important topic of interest among fans. Helmed by Jon M. Chu, this film is the sequel to 2024’s Wicked, adapting the second act of Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman’s 2003 stage musical, Wicked. Holzman contributed to the film’s screenplay alongside Dana Fox.
Here is what we know about Wicked: For Good’s potential streaming release date.
What is the Wicked: For Good streaming release date estimate?
Wicked: For Good’s streaming release date estimate is late February-March 2026. This is based on the pattern followed by Universal Pictures when it comes to putting their films on Peacock.
Wicked is a good example of this pattern. The film premiered in theaters on November 22, 2024, before dropping on Peacock on March 21, 2025. Accordingly, if For Good follows a similar pattern, then its late February-March 2026 release window becomes all the more likely.
As of writing, Wicked: For Good’s streaming release date remains unconfirmed.
Wicked: For Good news and updates
Wicked: For Good director Jon M. Chu recently revealed whether the film used generative AI in its development.
Speaking to The Guardian, he proudly stated, “Generative AI was not used on this movie. If you see the camera shake, if you see a dancer and they’re not quite on time, that’s because humans made this.”
He continued, “The string that plays just a little bit off-tempo, the wrinkle in her nose, that’s because it’s human-made. The world is part of the message.”
Wicked: For Good explores the complicated relationship between Glinda and Elphaba — established in the first film — as they embrace their respective identities as Glinda the Good and Wicked Witch of the West.
Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, and Marissa Bode reprise their roles from the first film. They are joined by Colman Domingo, who voices The Cowardly Lion.
The synopsis for Wicked: For Good is as follows:
“As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.”
