Marvel has big plans for a character who will be making their MCU debut in Spider-Man 4, according to a new rumor.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, arrives next summer. Directed by Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton, the film will once again see Tom Holland reprise his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker.
The cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day also includes Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone. Additionally, Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink, The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas, and Severance’s Trammel Tillman have been cast in undisclosed roles.
What is the new Spider-Man 4 rumor?
According to Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, Marvel has big plans for Tombstone’s MCU future.
“A cool thing I heard about the plans for Tombstone is to push him as a Spidey trilogy character rather than just a one-and-done type deal,” Perez wrote on Twitter. “Notice how I said character (not villain). Spectacular Spider-Man is the best example I can give to the take they want to do. While Spidey will go toe-to-toe with the Big Man, it’ll be interesting to see how much of their values kind of align, but have different approaches.”
Perez also said, “Trust that the goal for this next Spidey trilogy will be to have Spider-Man and Kingpin cross paths at some point. And funnily enough, Tombstone has a thing or two to say about Mayor Fisk and his plans to clean up NYC, but he’s just biding his time.”
This should only be treated as a rumor at this time, as there’s been no announcement of Jones III appearing in any Marvel project beyond Spider-Man 4. There has also been nothing official announced regarding Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin appearing in a Spider-Man movie or project.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives on July 31, 2026.
