The Age of Revelation event has seen a number of popular heroes die. This is par for the course with Marvel Comics events set in an alternate future, However, two iconic X-Men not known for making heroic last stands just sacrificed themselves for the good of the world.
The shocking sacrifices came in Undeadpool #3 by Tim Seeley and Carlos Magno. The series has centered around Deadpool as he tried to escort a quartet of would-be X-Men out of the territory controlled by Revelation. This would have been difficult enough without Wade Wilson being transformed into a zombie by the X-Virus. Without a regular diet of Mutant flesh, Deadpool lost his intelligence.

Despite this, Wade still tried to protect the young Mutants from Cable, who had been consumed by his techno-organic virus. Wade was less than successful, however, with only one of them, Fearless, surviving the trip to meet the Expatriate X-Men. Wade was able to release Fearless into their custody before losing control of himself, just as Cable caught up with him.
What X-Men heroes die in Undeadpool #3?
To Wade’s surprise, Cable was back to his old self. His old ally explained that Fearless had been hiding the full nature of her mutation. In addition to having enhanced telepathic senses that replaced her eyesight, Fearless could also boost the power levels of other Mutants. She had accidentally used her powers on Cable, enabling his telekinesis to beat back the virus. Unfortunately, the enraged Deadpool was still able to fight his way through Cable’s forcefield and bite him to death.

With his dying breath, Cable apologized to Deadpool for every insult he’d ever given him. He said for all Deadpool joked around and played at only caring for money, he knew he had a heart. This confession reached the zombie Deadpool, who despaired at having killed one of his few friends once his lucidity returned.
When Deadpool caught up with Fearless, she was in the process of torturing the Expatriate X-Men. Her plan had been to kill them and prove to Revelation she was worthy of being one of his servants. When Deadpool confronted her, she amplified his healing factor to free him of the X-Virus. She offered to leave him as he was if she let him finish what she started and return to Revelation.

Without a word, Deadpool killed Fearless. This freed the Expatriate X-Men from her control. However, it also doomed him, as the cancer tied to his healing factor was also accelerated. Deadpool died horribly, but content, knowing that he had saved what remained of the X-Men.
